JOLOKIA – The spiciest chilly in the World

It would be of no wonder in stating that chilies play one of the most important role in almost every cuisine. Some of us like low to moderate level of spices, while others just love spicy food. Now you will have to know the fact that there are over thousand varieties of chilies and each one of them has a unique taste. Some are sweet, some are relatively less spicy and some are absolutely hot. If my last line “some are absolutely hot” brought some mesmerizing temptations to your taste buds then yes, you are on the right page reading some really interesting stuff of your types.

Every chili lover would have definitely thought about the secret reason behind hotness in chilies, I would now take the privilege of revealing the secret behind chili hotness – The Capsaicin, this is the substance which is concentrated primarily in the veins, membrane and flesh of the Chili. The seeds are not the primary heat source, it is the membrane. However, the since the seeds are surrounded by membrane loaded with capsaicin, removing the seeds removes the surrounding membrane reducing the heat.

Capsicum, sweet pepper or a bell pepper, containing no capsaicin at all, has a Scoville rating of zero, meaning no heat detectable. Conversely, the hottest chilies, such as habaneros, have a rating of 200,000 or more, indicating that their extract has to be diluted 200,000-fold before the capsaicin present is undetectable. If you guys would have sharply noticed I did use a new unit of measure “Scoville Rating”, Hotness has traditionally been rated in Scoville Units named after Dr. Wilbur Scoville who devised a test in 1912 to rate the heat of a chili.

Now let us spice up our discussion to the core with this hot topic of the day – “Worlds spiciest chili”. Bhut Jolokia – The record holder hit a previously unthinkable 1 million scovilles. It is commonly known as Ghost Pepper paved its way to the fame of the world as being the hottest chili in the world in the year 2007, it has been the favorite ingredient in most delicacies. The hottest ghost pepper can be 417 times hotter than the mildest jalapeño. Bhut Jolokia is a chili that is grown in the North East Indian states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. It is a very common spice that is used in different forms such as fresh, pickled, dried, powdered or even chutneys. In fact, the pepper has a cult following, with numerous Twitter accounts, websites, and more dedicated to all things Jolokia. A Spicy Quest also aims to look at the modern spread of the chili, and what better candidate than the mighty ghost pepper, unknown just two decades ago, today a global celebrity

If you like Ghost Pepper or Bhut Jolokia in your hot chili sauce, due to the taste that it adds on to your food. This will leave you awestruck that this dangerous yet delicious chili adds health to your body in a number of ways. The Ghost Pepper is known to have properties to cure many ailments and boosts good health. Ghost Pepper has many health and nutritional benefits hidden in its every bite but only if taken in moderation. Make sure that you don’t directly swallow the chili as this may suffocate you and your entire respiratory system might be overstrained. Ghost Peppers are widely famous for their anesthetic effects and is used as a pain killer for arthritis, muscle strains, migraine, and backaches. The ingredient in the ghost pepper was tested in cancer research and it was found to kill and inhibit further growth of cancerous cells.

Indiblaze welcomes all spicy lovers with Jolokia sauce – Sauce made from extract of the spiciest chili in the world, the “Booth Jolokia”.

Avocado – The good fat

What we refer to as “avocado” is the fruit of the avocado tree, called Persea americana. This fruit is prized for its high nutrient value and is added to all sorts of dishes due to its good flavor and rich texture. They’re the go-to ingredient for guacamole dips at parties and they’re also turning up in everything from salads and wraps to smoothies and even brownies. So, what exactly makes this pear-shaped berry such a super food? Before my any attempt to answer this, let me shed light on something that needs your prior understanding. Be very clear about not putting all the fats into the same bag, nor classifying all of them as bad. Fat is a major source of energy and helps your body absorb nutrients from foods. Yet, it’s important to understand the difference between two general types of fats – saturated and unsaturated.

Saturated fats and trans fats are often labeled “bad fats” because they tend to raise bad cholesterol levels in the blood. This, in turn increases the risk for heart disease. Unsaturated fats (mono- and polyunsaturated) are referred to as “good fats” because, in the right amounts, they can be eaten as a substitute for bad fats. The key is to limit foods that contain the bad fat full-fat dairy products, processed meats, most desserts/pastries and replace them with foods that contain predominantly good fats like avocados, peanut butter, nuts/seeds and plant oils.

With this understanding about fats let’s talk about our darling of discussion, “the avocado”. It has become an incredibly popular food among health-conscious individuals. It is very important for every one of you to take our heart’s health to heart. Studies show replacing saturated fat with unsaturated fat, while staying within calorie needs, is more effective in reducing the risk of heart disease than simply lowering total fat intake. Research also supports the importance of improving the fat quality of the diet by choosing better fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are associated with improved blood lipids. Avocados contain both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. The avocado is a rather unique type of fruit. Most fruit consists primarily of carbohydrate, while avocado is high in healthy fats. They are cholesterol and sodium-free and they help assist consumers in meeting a major dietary goal of reducing saturated fat in the diet, when they are consumed in place of saturated-fat containing foods. It is a great fruit to help meet eating recommendations. This quick introduction about avocado must itself have answered that one question we have come across in the very beginning “what exactly makes this pear-shaped berry such a super food?”

There are many kinds of avocados, and they shape from pear-shaped to round and color from green to black can vary between them. The most popular type is called Hass avocado. It is often called “alligator pear,” which is very descriptive because it tends to be shaped like a pear and have green, bumpy skin like an alligator. The yellow-green flesh inside the fruit is eaten, but the skin and seed are discarded. Avocados are one of the most nutritious fruits you can select for a healthy diet. They contain a wide variety of nutrients, including 20 different vitamins and minerals. Avocados are low in sugar. And they contain fiber, which helps you feel full longer. The fruit is also one of the most versatile. You can eat it fresh or use it as a salad ingredient. You can also make a dip, smoothie, juice from avocado. You can also puree and toss with pasta, substitute for butter or oil in your favorite baked good recipes, or spread or slice onto sandwiches

We at Indiblaze serve this “super food” in its most preferred style of consuming – Guacamole. Anything and everything @ Indiblaze is healthy, tasty and pocket friendly.

Is Your Child a Picky Eater????

Most of the moms have this common complaint about their child’s picky eating. The only solution to this can be offering your picky eaters with wide variety of foods. While this may sound great, the reality for busy families is that often there isn’t time for trial and error. If you are frustrated, with trying to make sure your picky eater is getting all the nutrients he or she needs, something you all will have to be clear about is: Nutrition is more than salads and green smoothies.

Teaching children about “how to eat?” is more important than any. My talk about “how to eat?” has nothing to do with handling forks and spoons but how to eat in response to hunger and our body’s nutritional needs, not external cues. Dinner time at your dining table would be the best place for “how to eat?” classes. Sit with them and start talking about how hungry you are and how you know you’re hungry. Make them know about what exactly made you understand that you are hungry. Is it because it’s 9 p.m.? Is it because you smelled the biryani from the restaurant down the street? Or, are you hungry because your stomach is growling? These dinner time discussions about feelings of hunger and fullness will really be helpful to children. Children will soon understand to listen to their bodies.

In this whole process of teaching your children there are few homework tasks that you will have to work on. It’s very important for you to make sure that you eliminate the distractions while eating, which can actually help you listen to your body more effectively. Few actions which can help you better eliminate the distractions are: Turning off the TV, clearing the table of homework. I understand the fact that expecting this from you every night would be little more impractical, but make an effort to model this when you can. Set a goal as a family for how many nights per week you can accomplish this. Focus on creating a positive environment around the dinner table.

Don’t ever try to complicate the food intake process of your child. Your long list of do’s and don’ts will end up making your child become more choosy. Categorizing food into every day and occasional makes much more sense than labeling food as good and bad. Make sure loads of veggies, fruits and lean proteins in a variety of forms are a part of your child’s daily diet sheet and give it an occasional twist with your kid’s favorites which can be cakes, muffins or chocolates.

Something which is definitely worth trying is involvement of kids in kitchen. When children see food, and take a vested interest in how it is prepared, they likely will be more willing to try it. Try making the preparation process as much interesting as possible to your kid. technology can help you grab your child’s interest. Make your weekend plans little healthier which will catalyze the process of stress boosting in you and energy boosting in your kids. Indiblaze is one of the best ideal destinations for your healthy outing plans. At Indiblaze, your picky eating child will defiantly end up picking something good, healthy and tasty.
